Sierra Freightliner Inc. of Sparks has been acquired by Sierra Freightliner Sterling Western Star Inc.

Michael Smith, president of the newly formed corporation that purchased Sierra Freightliner, also owns a heavy-duty parts and service operation in Sparks as well as five other service facilities throughout the West. Each is a separate operation.

He purchased Sierra Freightliner from Mike Winkel. Terms weren’t disclosed. In addition to the commercial vehicles already represented by Sierra Freightliner, the organization will sell Sterling and Western Star commercial vehicles.

Mike Kill will serve as general manager of Sierra Freightliner Sterling Western Star Inc. Katrina Loftin, vice president of BTI Group Mergers and Acquisitions in Reno, represented Winkel in the transaction.
